Porcelain Veneers

Chips, cracks, stains, and gaps can all have a negative effect on the appearance of your smile and your self-image.

Porcelain veneers can conceal all kinds of cosmetic problems, making your smile look healthy and attractive.

What Are Dental Veneers?

Porcelain veneers are thin shells of ceramic material that are attached to the front surfaces of flawed teeth. When in place, a veneer conceals different kinds of dental imperfections from view. The natural-looking porcelain material looks virtually indistinguishable from natural dental tissue.

Different porcelain materials can be used to create a veneer. At Dowell Dental Group, we prefer IPS e.max® and IPS Empress® Esthetic. These durable materials are both lithium disilicate glass-ceramics. They are far stronger than the resin used for dental bonding, resulting in a longer-lasting upgrade that looks incredible.

We also offer LUMINEERS® and Vivaneers™, two options that require little or no tooth alteration.

How Much Do Veneers Cost?

The cost of porcelain veneers can vary based on the type of veneer used and the amount of dental work a patient needs. When you visit our offices in Minerva, Carrollton, or Dover, we can provide a personalized price quote for your treatment needs. We can also discuss financing options that make veneers affordable on virtually any budget.

Candidates for Veneers

The best candidates for porcelain veneers have:

Flawed Front Teeth

Porcelain veneers can only be placed on the front teeth, so candidates should only have issues affecting the most prominent parts of their smile.

Minor Aesthetic Imperfections

Dental veneers are a cosmetic dentistry option. If a fracture affects the structural strength of a tooth, a crown may be a more suitable solution.

Good Dental Health

Porcelain veneer patients should be in good overall oral health, and not currently experiencing tooth decay, gum disease, or other issues.

Sufficient Enamel

Less than a millimeter of tooth enamel needs to be removed to place most types of veneers. We also offer minimal-prep and no-prep options that can accommodate patients who lack enough enamel for traditional veneers.

Are Dental Veneers Right for Me? Schedule a Consultation Today

Porcelain veneers may be just what you need to start smiling with confidence. If you have cosmetic issues affecting your smile, our dentists can help. We can go over the basics of dental veneer treatment, and even discuss alternative dental solutions such as professional whitening, bonding with tooth-colored resin, and orthodontics.

Thanks to custom treatment planning, we can achieve results that look flattering yet natural. Many patients find that veneers give them confidence that opens the door to new opportunities in their careers and their social life.

Treating You Like You're Family
State-of-the-Art Patient-Centered Dentistry

I've had a dental phobia for years and years. LOVE Dr. Dowell and all of his staff. Just had a root canal done at the Carrollton office, and I don't use numbing. I have to say it was "a piece of cake". No pain or down time afterwards either.  Linda S. P.

Let's Look at How Veneers Work

The Veneers Procedure

Day of Procedure

Let's take you step-by-step through the process of placing traditional veneers...

Initial Consultation

During your visit to our offices in Minerva, Carrollton, or Dover, we'll answer any questions you have about porcelain veneers. You can get information about different cosmetic dentistry options as well. Whether you get dental veneers, in-office whitening, or another treatment, we'll make sure you can make a confident choice about your cosmetic dentistry options.

Prepping Teeth

Any natural teeth getting a veneer will need to be prepped. This process involves careful removal of less than a millimeter of enamel. We will use local anesthetic to make this process as comfortable as possible.

Taking Impressions

With the enamel removed, impressions are taken of the prepped teeth. We can take digital or traditional impressions. These impressions are used by technicians in a dental lab to create the custom porcelain restoration.

Fabricating the Veneer

We're proud to use American-made porcelain materials while creating custom IPS e.max or IPS Empress Esthetic veneers. The time needed can vary. Sometimes we can create same-day porcelain veneers, while other times the process takes up to three weeks.

Temporary Veneers

Patients will be given temporary veneers to wear while waiting for their custom dental veneers. We encourage patients to avoid sticky or crunchy foods while they have temporary veneers. This will help keep the veneers in place.

Placing the Finished Veneer

Once the custom-made veneer is completed, it can be placed. The veneers are checked for fit and adjusted if needed before they are secured in place.

Minimal-Prep Veneers

We provide two types of ultra-thin dental veneers that require little or no enamel removal: Vivaneers and LUMINEERS. We can determine if either of these options is right for you during the consultation process.

How Long Do Veneers Last?

On average, porcelain veneers last for about 10 years, though it's not uncommon for them to last much longer. The key is regular dental visits and good oral hygiene. By following the aftercare tips above, you can make your veneers last for many years to come.
