Dear Patients:

Our office follows infection control recommendations made by the American Dental Association (ADA), the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA). We follow the activities of these agencies so that we are up-to-date on any new rulings or guidance that may be issued. We do this to make sure that our infection control procedures are current and adhere to each agencies’ recommendations.

You may see some changes when it is time for your next appointment. We made these changes to help protect our patients and staff. Please be patient with us as we all adapt to this new “normal”.

For example:

· Our office will communicate with you beforehand to ask some screening questions. You’ll be asked those same questions again when you are in the office.

· We ask that you wear a facemask in the office, if possible, but NO GLOVES.

· We have hand sanitizer that we will ask you to use when you enter the office. You will also find some in the reception area and other places in the office for you to use as needed.

· You may see that our waiting room will no longer offer magazines, children’s toys and so forth, since those items are difficult to clean and disinfect.

· Appointments will be managed to allow for social distancing between patients. That might mean that you’re offered fewer options for scheduling your appointment.

· We will do our best to allow greater time between patients to reduce waiting times for you, as well as to reduce the number of patients in the reception area at any one time.

We look forward to seeing you again and are happy to answer any questions you may have about the steps we take to keep you, and every patient, safe in our practice.

Thank you for being our patient. We value your trust and loyalty and look forward to welcoming back our patients, neighbors and friends.

Keep Smiling!

How Dental Crowns Can Restore Your Smile Beautifully

Although your natural teeth are strong and durable, one of the major setbacks is their inability to repair themselves. Teeth that have been damaged due to trauma, infection, or excessive wear compromise the tooth’s structure and can lead to tooth loss. Fortunately, if you have suffered damage, our doctors at Dowell Dental Group offer dental crowns to fully restore your tooth. In addition to traditional lab-crafted crowns, we also offer same-day crowns with advanced CEREC® technology for our patients' convenience.

Restoring Tooth Function and Aesthetics

Our custom-crafted crowns are made to strengthen and protect the visible part of your tooth above your gum line. When this part of the tooth becomes damaged, a crown (also called a cap) will cover the surface area, returning it to its normal shape and size. The restoration will be indistinguishable from your natural, healthy teeth, adding the function back to your bite and improving the appearance of your smile.

If your tooth has been lost or needs to be removed, a crown can be used in conjunction with a dental implant for sturdy tooth replacement. The implant post is surgically placed directly into your jawbone to replace the tooth root. Once the implant is fused with the bone, we restore it with a crown. Crowns are often incorporated into full mouth reconstruction plans and are typically placed as the final step of root canal therapy.

Crowns are a highly versatile restorative and cosmetic dental treatment that can be used to effectively correct a wide range of concerns.

Same-day Restorations with CEREC®

Thanks to advances in dental technology, we can use our CEREC® system to fabricate your crown in a single visit. First, we take impressions of your teeth, and then a dental lab crafts the crown which is completed in about two weeks. However, CEREC® combines advanced software and a milling unit, so the crown can be created while you wait.

After we take a digital impression of your prepared tooth, we send the information directly to the CEREC® system for the creation of a three-dimensional model of your crown. At this time, we will ensure that the crown has a natural-looking appearance, matching the color of your surrounding teeth and adding small grooves to closely match the composition of your natural tooth structure. When the design is complete, the milling unit creates your new crown in about twenty minutes while you wait. After it is ready, your doctor will attach your permanent crown to your tooth. You leave our office with your treatment complete.

Benefits of Dental Crowns

Crowns are a highly versatile restorative and cosmetic dental treatment that can be used to effectively correct a wide range of concerns. These include:
