Endodontics (Root Canals)

Root Canal ModelEndodontics comes from the Greek endo (inside) and odons (tooth). So, endodontics is literally the study of the internal structures of the tooth. The inside of the tooth contains nerves, tissues, and fibers, and is often referred to as the “pulp.” The pulp fills the inner canals and extends into the jawbone. A large cavity or injury can cause an infection, filling the canals with bacteria. Root canal therapy is the process of cleaning out the canals and restoring the tooth.

With modern tools and techniques, root canal therapy is more comfortable than ever before. Dr. Dowell can perform the procedure in a single visit, in the comfort and convenience of our Carrollton or Minerva dental office. If left untreated, the infection will kill the tooth and need to be extracted. The dead tooth can cause additional oral health problems, as well. As a general dentist with experience in endodontics and root canal therapy, Dr. Dowell can help you keep your original teeth as long as possible.

Our progressive, fully digital practice has two convenient locations in Carrollton and Minerva. Call today to schedule your appointment or consultation. We look forward to bringing out the best in your smile.
